Frequently asked questions
Hiring a full-time, part-time, or casual employee comes with hidden costs: super, leave entitlements, insurance, office space, equipment, and more. You’re also paying for downtime, such as breaks, slow days and office chatter.
Using a VA consultant like OrgAssist gives you expert support without the overheads, waste, or long-term commitment. You only pay for productive hours, no admin costs, no idle time, and no surprises.
Here’s a real-world cost comparison:
| Cost Area | Full-Time Employee | Virtual Consultant (VA) |
| Base Hourly Rate | $36.00 | $55.00 |
| On-Costs (Super, WorkCover, Leave, HR) | $6.61 | Nil |
| Office Overheads (25%) | $9.00 | Nil |
| Total Effective Hourly Rate | $51.61 | $55.00 |
| Hours per Year | 1,950 | 975 |
| Annual Cost | $100,639.50 | $53,625.00 |

Despite a slightly higher hourly rate, a VA is more cost-effective overall because you're only paying for productive, outcome driven hours and no overhead costs. No idle time. No wasted resources.
Bottom line? You get high level support from an experienced VA when you need it, without the cost, complexity, or commitment of hiring staff.
While offshore VAs can be cost effective, they often come with time zone delays, language barriers, and a lack of contextual understanding of Australian industries, systems, and standards.
At OrgAssist, you're working with someone who knows local business expectations, communicates clearly, and can adapt quickly without constant back and forth. You get quality, reliability, and results you don’t have to double check.
Offshore VAs can seem like the cheaper choice, but in business, cheaper doesn’t always mean better. Here’s what you need to consider before making that call:
| Offshore VAs | Australian VAs (Like OrgAssist) |
| English often isn’t their first language, which can lead to communication issues | We’re fluent, clear communicators with strong business writing skills |
| Limited understanding of Australian laws, business practices, and compliance | We know local business because we are a local business |
| You may need to double-handle work to correct spelling, grammar, or formatting | We get it right the first time, no babysitting or micromanaging required |
| Often part of overseas agencies, not independent contractors | You work directly with your VA, not through a third party corporation |
| Data security and IP risks. How secure is your business info offshore? | We’re fully insured and operate under Australian privacy and business law |
| No local references and little accountability | We can attend onsite if and when required |
| No cultural context when dealing with your clients | We can call your customers and sound like part of your team |

We offer flexible pricing based on your needs, from one off projects to ongoing support.
Hourly rates apply for casual support, or we can tailor a package to suit recurring needs. We also offer monthly retainers for clients who want consistent availability.
We offer flexible pricing options to suit your business needs and working style:
- Hourly Rate: $55–$70 per hour depending on the task, tracked with a time tracker. Ideal for ad hoc or short-term support.
- Ongoing Retainer Agreement: A fixed weekly or monthly rate for a set range of hours (e.g. 15–20 hours per week). The rate remains the same no matter the hour variation.
- Prepaid Packages: Bundled hours or services purchased upfront at a set rate. Great for regular but lighter support.
- Outcomes-Based Packages: Fixed pricing for a specific project or deliverable – perfect for things like strategic plans, document packages, or setup projects.
Let’s chat about your priorities, and we’ll put together a package that works for you and your budget.
There are many reasons small businesses are turning to skilled virtual support. Here are the top benefits of working with someone like OrgAssist:
1. Scalable Support Your support grows or scales back as your business needs change, no fixed hours, no locked-in costs.
2. Real Flexibility Need something urgent handled after hours or on a weekend? As a business owner too, I understand and deliver where employees often can’t.
3. Well-Connected If you need services outside my expertise, I can refer you to trusted, highly skilled professionals in my network, saving you time and stress.
4. Location is No Barrier I work with clients across Australia. With today’s tools, geography doesn’t limit great support.
5. Zone of Genius I don’t try to do everything, I stick to what I know and do it exceptionally well. You get depth, not just breadth.
6. Cost Effective No overheads, no super, sick leave, or equipment costs. You only pay for outcomes, not hours wasted.
Nope. We’re flexible. Whether you need one time help or ongoing support, we can work with you to find the right fit. Got a one-off task that will only take a couple of hours that you just don’t want to do or want someone to form part of your team on a weekly basis, we do it all. Of course, our regular clients often prefer a monthly package for peace of mind and guaranteed availability.
Absolutely. We’re tech-savvy and adaptable, we have to be, or we wouldn’t be trusted by so many clients for reliable, efficient support. We work across a wide range of CRMs, project management platforms, and industry specific tools.
Even if we haven’t used your exact system before, we’ll get up to speed quickly (on our own time), so you’re not paying for us to learn. If you’ve already got tools in place, we’ll work with them, if not, we can recommend and help implement the right systems to suit your business.
